As an HR Consultant, Equity, Diversity, Inclusion & Belonging (EDIB) you will provide specialized, risk-based advisory and consultation services that embed equity and inclusion across organizational systems, programs, and practices. You will work closely with leaders, HR partners, and Centres of Excellence to identify risks, analyze qualitative and quantitative data, and provide recommendations. Primary duties include:

  • Design, maintain, and evolve EDIB standards, guidance, and diagnostic tools that embed equity and inclusion across employee lifecycle processes. Integrate EDIB principles into organizational systems, programs, and practices in collaboration with HR partners.
  • Provide expert, risk-based equity advisory and consultation services to leaders and HR partners.
  • Assess organizational initiatives, policies, and practices to identify equity considerations and recommend actions aligned with corporate frameworks and governance.
  • Analyze qualitative and quantitative data to identify equity risks, trends, and systemic themes and synthesize findings into recommendations and escalate risks through established governance pathways.
  • Support collaboration with other equity serving and rights bearing teams to align initiatives, share expertise, and strengthen coordinated approaches to EDIB.
  • Provide short-term embedded EDIB support in high-risk/high-impact situations. Contribute specialized expertise to address complex equity-related issues.

Qualifications

  • A degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field and at least 5 years of relevant human resources experience, including at least 1 year of demonstrated experience consulting and advising in the specialized field of Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging.
  • In-depth knowledge of EDIB principles, best practices, and emerging trends as well as familiarity with applicable labor laws and regulations related to EDIB.
  • A Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) designation will be considered an asset.
  • Experience in a large complex organization with a unionized environment will also be considered an asset.
  • Political acumen and sensitivity to cultural differences, demonstrated ability to establish collaborative relationships with rights and interest holders, and a strong desire to build a culture of inclusivity and a psychologically safe work environment.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and engagement skills, the ability to influence decision¿making, and navigate complex, sensitive environments with professionalism and cultural awareness.

Workstyle: This position may be eligible to work from home for at least part of the time as one of several flexible work options available to City employees. These arrangements depend on the operational requirements of the role, employee suitability, and are subject to change based on operational needs and corporate direction.

  • Compensation: Pay Grade 12 $48.54 - 64.88 per hour
  • Hours of work: Standard 35 hour work week.
  • Days of work: This position works a 5-day work week with 1 day off in a 3 week cycle.
