About the role

Duties and Responsibilities:

Responsible for providing administrative and research support to the People Relations & Workforce Stragy and its sub-units (Labour Relations, Workplace & Employee Relations, and Staff Relations). This includes supporting the team with file preparation, record maintenance, meeting logistics and other labour- and employee-related duties (LR/ER). The position also provides administrative support to labour and employee relations programs, including the Flexible Work Program.

Qualifications:

The incumbent must possess the following qualifications:

  • Knowledge of office administration policies, procedures, and processes
  • Knowledge of collective agreements and labour relations policies, procedures, and processes
  • Knowledge of applicable legislation, labour codes, and available research centres for labour relations
  • Knowledge of office operations as well as the broader University’s academic units, departments, and divisions
  • Knowledge of office productivity software, databases, internet browsers, search engines, discipline-specific applications, enterprise systems,, and related technology tools

Education and Experience:

The above is normally acquired through the completion of:

  • College diploma or bachelor’s degree
  • Working towards a designation in Human Resources is an asset
  • Minimum of four years of previous administrative experience
  • Minimum of two years of experience working in a human resources function within a unionized environment.
